The Dresden Dolls are provocative. Fun. Scary. So many odd things at the same time. Initially, I was a fan by marriage, meaning: I have heard of them only ‘cause my friends are really into them. I wasn’t expecting to be moved by this concert to write a review. Critic speak for: I wasn’t expecting to fall in love.

Better Half: Cute name, good location. Great for tourists who are thinking about moving to Austin but need a reason not to.

No tears for Lágrima
In 2024, the only reason you’d catch me in a church is for a friend’s wedding or a music thing. This was sort of a mix of both – a classical guitar performance by Austin musician Joaquin McHale as part of his degree requirements from Texas State.
