The Lone Star Heart Club Band pays homage to Texas icons. The painting’s origins are unconfirmed, but the initials “GWB” in the lower left corner implicate it may be a creation of former President and Texas resident George W. Bush.

The Lone Star Hearts Club Band is a mixed media painting on canvas. The background and foliage are the product of oil paint while the collage of characters is made from hand-cut images printed on standard computer paper to create a motley crew of Texas icons, paying homage to The Beatles’ album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”

The unprofessional style – likened to that of a child’s art project – is a reflection of the artist’s determination to make an idea come to fruition, despite seemingly not having any formal training or art experience whatsoever – and thus another layer of the painting’s embodiment of the tenacious spirit of Texas.

This painting is not for sale because of the copyright laws it likely infringes upon, though you could argue that makes it worth at least several million in legal fees.
